WordPress 2.3
Do you use WordPress? If so, you may want to read this article before upgrading to version 2.3 (releasing this Monday). I upgraded my site yesterday to 2.3 RC 1 and the only problem I had was with my Archives section. I use the Extended Live Archives plug-in and was able to fix it by uploading updated files for the plug-in, which I found here. I don’t use tagging, so I doubt I will change my theme to support them.
UPDATE: 3:20PM – I did change my theme to support tagging, but I am still not sure if I will use them. Does anyone use tags? If so, what is the main advantage of using them?
UPDATE: 5:21PM – I just installed a plug-in called Advanced Tag Entry. It adds a new section to the post editing screen that lets you do the following:
- Add a tag to your post from a drop-down list of existing tags you have already defined on other posts (so you can make sure you are consistent).
- Remove a tag from your post from a drop-down list of the tags you have already added to your post.
- Create a new tag, by defining the tag name and tag slug.
- Edit existing tag names and/or tag slugs.
- Delete tags that are not actually being used, from the WordPress database.

I don’t use tags. I still use categories. It may be a legacy thing. Too lazy to change.
