Fear Factory
Oct 20th
This past Saturday was our last haunted house visit of the season. We drove to Findlay & visited the Fear Factory. This was the first time that we’ve visited Fear Factory. When we exited the haunt, my first thought was that we never caught up with the group that went in front of us nor did the group behind us catch up. The actors did a great job scaring, but being last again… I probably missed a few scares. There were a few spots with close quarters, meaning that you had to crouch or turn sideways a few times to get through. It was a well balanced haunt & we would go back next year.

The Haunted Hydro
Oct 18th
Last night, Andrea & I made a trip to Fremont to visit The Haunted Hydro. The last time I visited was 2 years ago & you can read my review here. This year they did do a better job. Crazy Bob just sent the two of us through instead of going with a group. I definitely jumped several times as did Andrea. This haunt always does an amazing job with make-up. They were also good at misdirection this year. They would have your attention in one direction and then the scare would come from the opposite direction. Towards the end I was getting very frustrated, because we caught up with the group that went in front of us. They were a little older, but were really immature. They were taunting the actors and just acting like fools. I’m glad this happened at the end. This year was worth the 45 minute drive.

Road Trip / Ghostly Manor
Oct 12th
Yesterday, we (my parents, Dawn, Chad, Andrea, Caleb, & I) took a little road trip to the Akron area. We visited my Uncle/Aunt & a few of my cousins on my Dad’s side. This was Caleb’s first road trip & he was excellent throughout the whole day. After visiting their home for an hour we all went to this great Italian restaurant called Parasson’s in Barberton, OH. After dinner we got back on the Ohio Turnpike to head home. We decided to stop off at exit 118 which is the exit for Ghostly Manor. This is one of the best haunted houses and is rated within the top 10 in the US. It cost $10.00 and well worth it. The wait was about 15 minutes & only Chad, Andrea, & I went through. This is a well balanced haunt. They have a lot of animatronics, but also have a lot of actors within to give you enough scares that won’t leave you disappointed.

Terror Town 2008
Oct 5th
Andrea & I met Chad, Tony, Amy, Nick, Lauren, & Sarah at Terror Town last night. It cost $20.00 for all four attractions. However, we only went through three of them. The first attraction, Freak Show, is what we didn’t go through. They have it each year and it’s the same stuff… four winged bat, etc… The second attraction, The Slaughter House, was a dark maze & before entering, they give you a flashlight. The girl punching the tickets showed us how the flashlights work. Each of the actors inside have a clicker that control the flashlights. They could turn them off, on, or have a strobing effect. The third attraction, The Beast, was just a long vortex tunnel. If you don’t know what a vortex tunnel is… it’s a raised static bridge going down a spinning cylinder that disorients you as you walk through. The final attraction, House of the Dead, was ok this year. Once again, there were too many animatronics & not enough actors to balance the haunt.

Terror Town 2007
Sep 30th
Andrea and I along with my brother in-law, two nephews, and niece went to Terror Town last night. We paid $16.00/person for all three attractions. The first attraction was called The Cave & completely a waste of time. You sit on a small bench (that fits six people) with a high back, a wall in front of you and on both sides (obviously with one side being a door), it was a pretty tight fit. Next thing you know, balls start to fly down on us filling up the confined space, supposedly giving you the feeling of a cave in. The only feeling it gave me was dissatisfaction. The second attraction, Big Top Terror, was OK. They give you 3D glasses to wear as you walk through & the “scary” clowns did a decent job to give Andrea & I a few scares. The last attraction, House of the Dead, was really good and was better than last years which was called “The Asylum”. House of the Dead did a great job of balancing actors to animatronics which provided a lot of good scares throughout the attraction. My recommendation is to skip the first two attractions and just hit House of the Dead.

Keil’s Screamhouse
Oct 28th
I just got back from this year’s best haunted house that I’ve been to this season. This was also the last stop for the season. You can visit the Halloween 2006 category for all of my reviews. Keil’s Screamhouse was excellent. The props looked pleasingly gory to the eye. The actors were good at getting your attention so others could scare you from behind. I rated Ghostly Manor 5 stars as well, if I could, Keil’s Screamhouse would get 5 1/2 stars!

Crazy Bob

Just got back from Haunted Hydro and it was OK. While the scenes were great and the actors did an awesome job with their make-up, I didn’t jump too many times. The Mid-Evil Stonehenge was the same as last year, thick fog and a chained fence maze (which wasn’t a real maze since there was only one way to go). Maybe next year Crazy Bob!

Cedar Point
Oct 15th
Got back from Cedar Point Halloweekends today. It wasn’t as cold as I thought it would be… well until the sun went down & then it got pretty cold. Cedar Point’s new Fear Faire was awesome and in my humble opinion, better than Carnevil. The only thing I disliked was the other people walking through these attractions and I am not talking about the people that I went with. People giving the “actors” a hard time, because they think it’s funny when at the end of the day, they are making fools of themselves. Next weekend, the tentative plan right now is to visit Pontiac, Michigan for Erebus. Erebus is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest haunted house (four stories).

The annual trip to the Ghostly Manor was great, as usual. They use a lot of animatronics, but they also use a lot of actors that balances the haunt. It provided me with enough scares that if Cedar Point does not tomorrow, I will not be disappointed. New this year was their addition of the XD Theatre 3D Motion Ride. The XD played the Haunted Mine ride, which was an awesome experience & similar to the Pirate show with Leslie Nielsen at Sea World years ago.

Just got back from another round of haunted houses. The first stop was Nautical Nightmare, located at the docks within International Park. This attraction provided me enough scares and jumps! The decor on the boat was great and walking through the different corridors was an adventure in itself. The actors did a great job on their make-up, which can be a good sign if the haunted house will be scary or not. If the Nautical Nightmare is not on your list this year, put it on your list!

The second stop was Chainsaw Creek, located in the parking lot of Westfield Shopping Center, and featured three haunted attractions. The first one we went through was the Butcher Shop. I didn’t get too many scares, but that could have been my place as we walked through. They also did a great job on the decor and kept the theme throughout. The second one we went through was the Haunted Prison. This one provided a few more scares and a unique chain fence area making you find your way out. The third one was the Black Hole. The Black Hole was a dark maze and maybe a few scares, nothing more. It did have a vortex at the end, so that made it a little better.
